Elevate Your Interior Design Photos with the Right Florals

Florals are one of the most important styling elements you could bring to an interior photography session. They bring so much life to a photo. And when chosen carefully and thoughtfully, they can truly elevate your designs through the camera lens.

While most choose florals based the colors of the petals, I’d argue this is a great start! But let’s take this all a bit further. Before you snag flowers on the way to your session (which you shouldn't do—go a couple days before to give the blooms time to open!), take a few more minutes to think about each space we’re photographing and how your floral choices can enhance the design.

Apart from simply the color of your floral, think about

  • the texture the petals/stems bring to the room.

  • the scale of the floral (bigger can mean more drama!).

  • how stiff or relaxed the stems fall.

  • vessel choice.

Pro Tip: Bring at least two floral options for each room and at least two vessel choices. Make your decision once you look through camera lens!

Here’s a round up of some of my favorite floral moments as of late. And I’ve categorized for you to consider as you gear up for your next interior photography session.

Textural Floral

You kinda want to reach in and touch them, right? Specifically with how the light is falling on these florals, the texture brings a tactile element to each space.

Oversized Floral

Such a great way to bring more drama. The camera loves MORE. (BTW, the same goes for the bowl of lemons, apples, artichokes, etc. Don’t bring five; bring fifteen!)
