  • Relationships are the heartbeat of my business. I'm obsessed with the creative process behind photographing a space, but the people are what keeps me coming back.

I'm a low-volume photographer, and that's by design. By maintaining a curated roster of clients, I'm able to offer the best of what I do to each of you.

The goal for my business is to look less like a revolving door and more like that local coffee shop around the corner. The one where you're greeted by name and the barista has memorized your order. That's what you get with SLP--service that's familiar, reliable, trustworthy, and comfortable. This relationship results in not only stellar images and a consistent portfolio, but makes each session fun and enjoyable.

  • My price sheet should have arrived in your email inbox along with the link to this page. If you did not receive it, please email me using the button below.

  • During a scout, you and I will walk each space to be photographed. I will take phone pictures of the compositions I plan to capture, and we also discuss potential roadblocks that will affect our session day timeline.

I scout in person for most full day sessions, and I scout virtually for half day sessions (you send me photos via text of the spaces to be photographed).

I scout full day sessions for two main reasons:

    1) Scouting helps me ensure we stay on schedule so every space gets the right amount of time in front of the camera.

    2) Scouting helps you prepare for styling. If you know the majority of compositions I will capture, you'll know what kind of styling items you need to bring and where they need to go in the space.

  • As you know, styling for an install and styling for the camera are two different animals! A professional stylist not only takes imagery into a more editorial direction, it also provides you a major convenience factor. Nothing like saving your time for what you do best while the stylist does all the shopping and returning for photo day items.

I recommend you hire a stylist 1) anytime you want to offload the burden and stress of styling and 2) anytime you want to use the images for award and (especially) publication submissions. Keep in mind that when it comes to editorial publication, styling can make or break your placement.

I am happy to send over stylist recommendations upon booking a session.

  • Did you know that the photos delivered by your photographer are actually owned by the photographer? Even after you pay your photographer and she delivers the photos to you, your photographer still owns the copyright to the images. This is due to U.S. Copyright Law that states the person who authored the work at the moment of capture is the sole owner.

This means that when you pay your photographer, what you're buying is not the photo itself, but rather a license that legally grants you specific ways to use the photos.

No matter which photographer you hire, make sure you understand how you’re able to use their images. This should be outlined in a contract you sign prior to your session date.

My standard licensing contract offers my clients a generous amount of usage rights. However, the usage rights are available only to those listed in the contract. Many other parties (e.g., vendors, manufacturers, retailers) will want to use the photos so they can make money by selling the products shown in the photos. This request most often happens after you post a photo to social media.

Because my licensing terms are detailed in my contracts (and easy to read!), their should be no confusion as to what sort of permission you can and cannot provide to any party requesting to use the photos.

In the majority of circumstances, I ask my clients to please refer the third party to me so I can set them up to use the images legally.
